چکیده

A rich poriferan assemblage was identified within the easternmost part of Getic Carbonate Platform Romania (Grădiștei Gorges). The excellent preservation state most poriferans here led to discovery a new species (Neuropora gigantea Pleș & Schlagintweit, n. sp.) and identification previously unknown diagnostic features in some (Sarsteinia babai Schlagintweit Gawlick, 2006 emend., Neuropora lusitanica Termier, 1985, Sphaeractinia steinmanni Canavari, 1893). Calciagglutispongia yabei Reitner, 1992, Sarsteinia are reported for first time from Upper Jurassic carbonates Platform. sedimentary input fluctuations nutrient competition had an important role understanding morphological adaptations analysed species. existing palaeoecological palaeoenvironmental conditions generated different distribution patterns towards reef profile also preferential specific Tethyan domain. As opposed assemblages northern shelves, these organisms formed sponge-coral-microencruster boundstones at margins fore-reefal zones isolated carbonate platforms intra-Tethyan realm. importance calcified sponges reef-zonation is highlighted by establishment general zonation model. Three can be distinguished: 1) Cladocoropsis-Milleporidium zone (back-reef area); 2) Bauneia-Chaetetopsis-Parastromatopora (central 3) Sphaeractinia/Ellipsactinia-Neuropora fore-reef area. In absence true framework developed typical morphologies, environmental partnerships with other biotic groups which strongly influenced production throughout

Exceptionally preserved insect fossils in the Late Jurassic lagoon of Orbagnoux (Rhône Valley, France)

The Late Kimmeridgian marine limestones of the area around Orbagnoux (Rhône, France) are well known for their fish fauna and terrestrial flora. Here we record the first insects and their activities (mines on leaves and trails in sediments) from these layers, including the oldest record of the gerromorphan bugs, as a new genus and species Gallomesovelia grioti, attributed to the most basal famil...

Air pollution, precipitation chemistry and forest health in the Retezat Mountains, Southern Carpathians, Romania.

In the Retezat Mountains concentrations of O3, NO2 and SO2 in summer season 2000-2002 were low and below toxicity levels for forest trees. While NH3 concentrations were low in 2000, the 2001 and 2002 concentrations were elevated indicating possibility for increased N deposition to forest stands. More than 90% of the rain events were acidic with pH values <5.5, contributing to increased acidity ...

Multidimensionality and scale in a landscape ethnoecological partitioning of a mountainous landscape (Gyimes, Eastern Carpathians, Romania)

BACKGROUND Traditional habitat knowledge is an understudied part of traditional knowledge. Though the number of studies increased world-wide in the last decade, this knowledge is still rarely studied in Europe. We document the habitat vocabulary used by Csángó people, and determine features they used to name and describe these categories. STUDY AREA AND METHODS Csángó people live in Gyimes (C...

Decapods from Jurassic (Oxfordian) sponge megafacies of Dobrogea, Romania and reconsideration of Nodoprosopon BEURLEN, 1928

Examination of Jurassic decapod crustaceans associated with microbialite-siliceous sponge biostromes in Gura Dobrogei, eastern Romania, has yielded a unique association of these organisms. Goniodromites aliquantulus new species appears to have inhabited layered sponge biostrome settings only, whereas Cycloprosopon dobrogea and Goniodromites spp. appear to have inhabited a variety of microbialit...

New crabs (Decapoda: Brachyura: Prosopidae) from Jurassic (Oxfordian) sponge bioherms of Dobrogea, Romania

A previously undescribed fauna of primitive brachyurans of the family Prosopidae is reported from sponge bioherms in eastern Romania. One new species, Cycloprosopon dobrogea, and several other forms, constitute the brachyuran fauna. The sponge bioherms, which attain a height of 30 meters, have yielded an abundant, but not overly diverse, array of benthic invertebrates. Some of the brachyuran sp...
